Pan Brothers JV eco smart garment project with Mitsubishi on track

Eco Smart Garment Indonesia joint venture between Pan Brothers, one of Indonesia’s largest textile and apparel exporters and Japanese conglomerate Mitsubishi for the construction of three garment factories is on track and expected to start production early next year.

The construction setback at Eco Smart Garment Indonesia was only for a short period and [the plants] will be operational in the first half of 2017, said Pan Brothers.

According to report, the Eco Smart Garment Indonesia joint venture had to delay the project, set for completion in the fourth quarter of 2016, as it needed more time to find suitable candidates to fill middle-management positions at the plants.

On completion of the project, its total production capacity would increase to more than 100 million garments a year compared to 75 million last year, due to the expansion of existing plants and the addition of new plants in Ungaran and Demak in Central Java.

The company’s new unit, Teodore Pan Garmindo, is scheduled to start production this year.

Pan Brothers has been recruiting staff for middle-management positions since the beginning of the year, as part of the company’s continuous regeneration program for future expansion.

They are placed in various positions as part of on-the-job training in order to prepare them and introduce them to the corporate culture, the company said.

Pan Brother’s client are among the global clothing brands such as Adidas, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, Nike and United Colors of Benetton.

The garment holdings company are supported by a more than 20,000 strong skilled workforce and expert management team in year 2014, with scope to increase to upwards of 40,000 following the construction of new manufacturing facilities in Central Java.
