Outerknown partners with Recurate to launch new peer-to-peer resale platform

US-based sustainable lifestyle brand Outerknown, has partnered with Recurate, a leader in circular economy technology, to use Recurate’s technology to launch a new peer-to-peer resale platform.

Owners of Outerknown clothes can use the Outerworn resale platform to sell their used merchandise directly on Outerknown’s website if and when they are ready to part ways with it. Users can upload their own images, descriptions, and suggested prices for their products, which will be vetted and authorized by Outerknown before being displayed on the Outerknown website.

When an item sells, the user receives a pre-paid shipping label to transfer it to its new owner, obviating the need for shipping to a third-party warehouse and its associated environmental impact. The user will be compensated with shop credit once the buyer verifies its condition.

Outerknown CEO Mark Walker said that they Outerknown designs with durability and a timeless style in mind. They’re pleased to assist their garments to remain in circulation while also introducing Outerknown to a new population with products that are affordable.

Walker added that it is critical for brands to own the entire life cycle of their clothing. This resale platform is a significant step toward their objective of achieving full circularity by 2030, as it enables them to pilot a new revolutionary circular technology and end-of-life solution, introduce a renewed platform that enables product life extension, and design products with higher usefulness. They put a lot of effort into producing high-quality goods and wish to keep clothing in circulation for as long as possible.

Outerknown, which aims to achieve full circularity by 2030, debuted its first circular collection earlier this year, with each piece featuring a scannable QR code that allows users to access important circularity data and open up circular end-of-life channels.
