ONE Essentials launches circular underwear line

Former Barbour and Crew Clothing designer, Carrie Davies, has developed ONE Essentials, a circular underwear line that will also provide consumers with collect and recycle service for products that have reached the end of their useful lives.

The brand began with a collection of T-shirts, sweatshirts, and underwear made of recycled, organic cotton and biodegradable elastane, all of which are guaranteed to be free of hazardous chemicals. The items can be returned to the brand to be recycled when they reach the end of their useful life.

Davies said that he wanted to start with the hardworking items in the closets, the ones that get the most wear and tear but are often overlooked. So he concentrated on the one item that we all discard — underwear, an item that is truly disposable. All of that is about to change because of ONE Essentials.

When compared to ordinary cotton, this combination of fibers utilizes 72% less energy, 84% less water, and 51% less CO2 per lb of fibers, while also reducing the requirement for virgin cotton fibers.

When compared to clothing made of standard cotton, the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) score displayed beneath each product on ONE Essential’s website measures product environmental savings in terms of water, CO2, fertilizer, and energy. An extra tool, which is constantly updated based on website sales, displays the brand’s entire environmental effect.

The business also offers supply chain transparency scores that inform customers about the garment’s geographical origins, the number of hours it took to make it, and the average monthly employee wage. The brand donates to textile cleanup programs as part of its 1% Pledge.
