Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Shahi Exports here at Mancheswar industrial estate announced that the Odisha government has been contemplating to set up two integrated textile parks at Choudwar and Bhadrak.
Naveen also announced that the state government has made special arrangement for textile and handloom sectors in the new industrial policy resolution to encourage investment in textile and handloom sectors.
The state government would also come up with a special policy to promote different industrial projects having opportunities for employment, said an official release quoting Naveen. The industrial policy will be also be unveiled very soon.
Naveen also said that the textile unit by Shahi Export will help to boost the handloom and textile sector in the state.
The promoter is planning to invest Rs 36 crore in the unit. The unit would start production within one year which is targeted to produce more than three lakh clothes per month, will create direct employment opportunity for around 2500 people. Shahi Export has over 48 units across the country.
Hopeful of more investments in the textiles sector, Patnaik said that Shahi Exports' efforts to set up an export oriented apparel unit in the state will encourage others to invest in the state.
