Outerwear brand The North Face appeared at London Fashion Week in a collaboration with MM6, the contemporary and somewhat more affordable arm of luxury brand Maison Margiela. The line takes a more whimsical approach to pieces from TNF’s Expedition System, a landmark collection of detachable, layered pieces launched in the nineties.
"Resonating with the modular and customizable nature of both the MM6 collection and the original Expedition System,” MM6 said in a statement, “garments are engineered with interlocking components that adapt and extend the protective, insulating properties of each design," MM6 said in a press release.
The collection builds on the North Face’s “iconic black shoulder construction” and is “executed in a bright palette”. Performance textiles ensure each piece’s functionality, the company said, while “embodying a sculptural and resolutely avant-garde silhouette.”
