Next designer collaboration of H&M is Moschino

The Italian fashion house is the latest to work with the Swedish high street retailer, which has previously created highly popular ranges with the likes of Erdem, Matthew Williamson, Balmain, Alexander Wang and Versace, among others.

Jeremy Scott announced the news at his annual Coachella party. The Moschino x H&M collection will be available online and in select H&M stores worldwide from November 8.

Although details of the collection have not been released, it’s likely to feature much of the OTT flamboyance and colourful cartoonish aesthetic of Scott’s Moschino, and no doubt a few ironic pop-arty designs – Scott is, after all, the man whose decade-long Adidas collaboration (which expired in 2017) gave us gold winged trainers.

H&M’s Creative Advisor Ann-Sofie Johansson said that, “Jeremy Scott is amazing,” and “he knows how to have fun with fashion, and to connect with his fans around the world.”

“I am so excited about Moschino x H&M,” says Jeremy Scott, Creative Director of Moschino. “My life’s work has been to connect with people through fashion, and with this collaboration I’ll be able to reach more of my fans than I’ve ever had the ability to do.”

As with his Adidas collaboration, Scott’s excited by the affordability of the H&M collection. “I want to reach an even more international audience at a reasonable price,” he said in an interview with the Swedish retailer. “With H&M, Moschino can be all over the world. It’s a thrill for me. And not only for me, but also for fans of the brand. I’m so conscious of the fans. They are so passionate. They are so creative and brilliant. I just want to meet their enthusiasm. That’s what this is about.” Scott, who took the helm as creative director of Moschino in 2013, is credited with having injected a fresh, millennial energy into the storied Italian house.

Clad in first looks from the upcoming collection – Hadid in a silky CD-print windbreaker and thigh-high boots, Scott in a black bomber with a classically Moschino trompe l’oeil gold chain printed at the neck – the pair embodied the vitality and humour for which Scott’s Moschino has come to be known.

Fashion designer Jeremy Scott has a reputation for being a little ‘extra’. Fitting then that at his annual Coachella party on a Saturday night, Scott should receive an ‘Instagram Live Call’ from his pal Gigi Hadid – projected on screens at the party and broadcast on H&M’s live feed announcing that Moschino would be the latest designer label to collaborate with H&M on a collection.
