Santosh Gangwar, who took charge as minister of state for textiles (independent charge), stated that he soon present a comprehensive plan for the development of the textile industry and work towards promoting Brand India overseas to increase exports.
Soon after taking charge Gangwar told media that, "My aim is to create more jobs, help improve the economy by boosting the textile sector. I shall soon present a roadmap for developing the sector".
While acknowledging that the textile sector has a potential to provide huge number of jobs, Gangwar said he would work towards promoting Brand India abroad and boosting textile exports. "On a visit to the US once I saw branded clothes and found they were made in India. I wish to promote Brand India across the world," he told agency.
Asked on the issues plaguing the textile industry in Uttar Pradesh, Gangwar replied that local artisans need a push that will unlock the strengths of the region.
Gangwar has also been appointed as junior minister, parliamentary affairs, water resources, river development and Ganga rejuvenation. Earlier he held ministerial posts at the Centre as minister of state for petroleum and natural gas with additional charge of parliament affairs.
