Naue has introduced GlacierProtect, a new and innovative solution designed to help safeguard glaciers and preserve snow in ski resorts. This development comes in support of the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation 2025, highlighting Naue’s strong commitment to protecting the environment.
GlacierProtect is an eco-friendly geotextile created by the Naue Group, aimed at slowing down the melting of glaciers and snow caused by climate change. Made with Naue Secutex Green, a nonwoven fabric derived entirely from renewable and biodegradable materials, GlacierProtect helps lower surface temperatures by reflecting 75% of sunlight, effectively reducing ice melt.
This strong yet easy-to-use material is well-suited for use in high mountain regions. Beyond preserving glaciers, it also helps maintain water supplies and supports the balance of local ecosystems. GlacierProtect is especially valued for its three key features, it is biodegradable, reusable, and aids in conserving snow, making it both efficient and environmentally responsible.
Additionally, GlacierProtect offers a practical and affordable way to protect busy areas around ski lifts. It ensures that entry and exit points remain safe and usable throughout the winter, even in severe weather. This reduces regular maintenance costs and extends the lifespan of the resort’s infrastructure, leading to lower future expenses. Its nearly maintenance-free design helps ski resorts operate more efficiently while being kind to the environment.
