Australian biomaterials company Nanollose achieved a significant milestone by securing its inaugural purchase order for its eco-friendly fibre, Nullarbor. The order, placed by Turkish denim manufacturer Orta Anadolu Ticaret Ve Sanayi İşletmesi, encompasses 340 kilograms of Nanollose’s Nullarbor-20 fibre, marking a pivotal moment for the company.
The Nullarbor fibre, produced during Nanollose’s recent third pilot spin in collaboration with Birla Cellulose, a global fibre production company headquartered in India, will soon be delivered to Orta. With an annual denim production capacity of 35 million meters, Orta is a crucial supplier of denim to luxury brands, renowned denim labels, and retail chains, employing around 1,500 individuals.
This purchase order stems from an initial partnership agreement between Nanollose and Orta, resulting in the integration of Nullarbor-20 fibre into samples of Orta’s denim fabric and jeans. Nanollose’s executive chairman, Dr. Wayne Best, highlighted the significance of this order, emphasizing Nullarbor's commercial potential. Dr. Best expressed confidence in the fibre’s ability to drive further demand and revenue growth as it gains momentum in the market.
