Myant Corp. and Coapt to advance assistive technology with textiles

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2024-12-06 16:51:53 – Canada

Myant Corp., a leader in textile computing for healthcare, has joined forces with Coapt, a provider of neural interface technology, to revolutionize assistive technology. The collaboration focuses on developing textile-based electromyography (EMG) interfaces that improve the interaction between prosthetic limbs and the human body.

By integrating Coapt’s advanced EMG intent decoder systems with Myant’s innovative textile technologies, the partnership aims to deliver products that enhance comfort, accuracy, and control for users of assistive devices, including prosthetic limbs. These innovations may also enable new therapeutic approaches for managing phantom limb pain and biofeedback solutions, supporting Myant’s mission to enrich the daily lives of people with unique needs.

“Myant and Coapt share a common goal of enhancing quality of life through seamless integration of technology with the human body,” said Tony Chahine, CEO of Myant. “This collaboration will redefine possibilities in prosthetics and rehabilitation.”

The partnership’s future plans include exploring applications of virtual and augmented reality in medical therapies. Funded research and clinical trials will further investigate the global impact of their combined technologies on patient care.

“Together, Myant and Coapt are paving the way for assistive technology that not only restores functionality but also improves comfort and independence,” said Blair Lock, CEO of Coapt.
