MR PORTER launches luxury resale service with Reflaunt

Leading luxury online menswear style destination, MR PORTER, has launched MR PORTER RESELL, a resale business in collaboration with technology company Reflaunt.

Customers in the UK, US, Germany, and Hong Kong SAR will be able to resell their items – as well as rejuvenate their wardrobes with a circular impact – across ready-to-wear, accessories, shoes, and jewelry, creating a dedicated destination and community within the resale industry, which has been dominated by womenswear up until now.

The partnership will offer a digital and in-person service, including complimentary pickup or drop-off, product listings on international marketplaces, and customizable customer reward options including shop credit with a 10% bonus or direct bank transfer.

Fiona Firth, Managing Director of MR PORTER, said that they have a responsibility to their consumers to give them a service where they can make a difference with their wardrobe through MR PORTER RESELL. They’re happy to partner with resale industry pioneers Reflaunt, and together they’ve developed a seamless service that allows customers to join a community and resell their products, continuing their story and lifespan. This is a watershed point in MR PORTER’s re-commerce journey, and a significant potential to lead the way in expanding this growing men’s area.

Stephanie Crespin, CEO and co-founder, Reflaunt, said that there is a really enticing white space in the menswear resale category, as they migrate from sneakers and niche limited edition pieces to spanning all categories and styles. MR PORTER is one of the first to gamble on this arena, and it has the ability to truly define the next phase of resale by bringing top-notch menswear goods from their own consumers into the market. They are excited to connect the world of resale with MR PORTER clients to let them give their premium items a second life, boosting the brand’s great shopping experience towards circularity.

Reflaunt’s technology “powers the complete client journey,” with added features like a home collection and professional photographic management. After that, the handpicked listings are posted on overseas marketplaces.

Additionally, MR PORTER EIPs (Extremely Important People) can market their pre-loved things through a bespoke wardrobe refresh service, which is available in-person or online.

According to MR PORTER customer insights, over 75% of customers polled now consider product sustainability credentials when making purchases, and 50% have already begun looking into the resale market.
