US-based firm, Moss continues to expand their sustainable product range with the addition of SustainaTex Ocean, a fabric blend made from recovered marine plastic, post-consumer waste, and recycled polyester.
Moss joined the Seaqual initiative, a group that works with ocean clean-up initiatives throughout the world to transform recovered marine trash into upcycled marine plastic.
Moss President and CEO, Jason Popp, said that as part of their collaboration with the Seaqual initiative, Moss is exclusively introducing a totally sustainable SEG graphic using recovered ocean plastic. SustainaTex Ocean includes Seaqual® yarn, which is created from both marine and land-based post-consumer waste, resulting in a graphic with 100% recycled content. Also, moving ahead in Europe and the US, they will exclusively ship in bags made entirely of recycled materials that are totally recyclable.
Popp added that by selecting SustainaTex Ocean, you are assisting in the improvement of the environment. They now have a sustainable visual solution that delivers the same degree of powerful branding while also helping to clean up the environment. SustainaTex Ocean saves an equivalent of 2.26 (16.9 Oz) plastic bottles from the seas and landfills for every square foot of material used.
Moss is able to create a new industry standard in sustainability because of its in-house skills and strategic supply chain partnerships. Because it combines PVC-Free Gasket, post-consumer plastic, Upcycled Marine Plastic, and OEKO-TEX compliant dye sublimation inks, graphics created on the SustainaTex Ocean Textile will be the most sustainable synthetics in the industry.
Andrea Riccardi, Durst Group’s Head of Product Management, said that working with Moss has enabled them to pair their water-based, odorless inks and 1-Step-Printing process with materials that are equally conscious of their environmental impact. Their ability to collaborate with the Moss team at their Graphic Imaging Center of Innovation has been critical in the development of cutting-edge, long-term solutions.
