During the inauguration of the 13th fair “Maroc in Mode et Maroc Sourcing” held by the Association Maroccaine des Industries du Textile et de l’Habillement (AMITH) in Marrakesh, the Minister of Industry, Trade, Investment and Digital Economy of Morocco Moula Hafid Elamaly underscored a weighty plan to accelerate the country’s textile sector

As a part of the Industrial Acceleration Plan , Rabat – Morocco sets to seek MAD 6.5 billion of textile exportations by 2020. This ambitious strategy is basically set in response to the professionalism of the sector operators.

According to the minister, “Maroc in Mode et Maroc Sourcing,” held Nov. 4-6received 350 exhibitors representing different trends of the textile sector.

Mohamed Tazi, Genreal, Director of AMITH, underlined that this fair is of a significant importance for textile’s operators.

He added that public authorities support the textile sector through a wide range of measures, which are likely to make Morocco a top textile actor in Africa and the Mediterranean.

The textile sector represents 25 to 30 percent of Morocco’s exportations and 15 percent of the added value in industry.

Moulay Hafid Elalamy highlighted that the textile sector employs 30 percent of labor force and it is of a particular interest to the Ministry of Industry which supports it through the Industrial Development Fund (FDI).
