Moosejaw introduces outdoor gear resale program

Moosejaw, a leading retailer specializing in outdoor gear and apparel, launched ReTrail, a resale program, on February 9th and powered by Recurate, a pioneer in circular economy technology, in response to consumer demand for wiser, more environmentally friendly purchase decisions. Customers of Moosejaw now have the option to buy and sell their used goods on Moosejaw.com directly through this platform.

Eoin Comerford, CEO of Moosejaw, said that for more than 30 years, they’d worked hard to deliver the beauty of the outdoors and the gear needed to as many people as possible. They are making it simpler for their current customers to sell their gear through the ReTrail program and more accessible for new customers to buy gear. This initiative satisfies growing customer demand for eco-conscious behaviors.

Users choose things from their Moosejaw order history to post for sale through the peer-to-peer marketplace. The product images, descriptions, and suggested prices are uploaded by the seller; Moosejaw then authenticates and approves the content to be displayed on the ReTrail platform. Users will receive a pre-paid shipping label when the item sells, removing the logistics and environmental impact of sending it to a third-party warehouse.

Moosejaw does not charge a commission for sales, in contrast to other schemes. Moosejaw Reward Dollars, which can be used to buy new gear on Moosejaw.com and in Moosejaw shops, rentals, or pre-owned gear on ReTrail, will be sent to the seller once the buyer confirms the item’s condition. For their sales, Moosejaw High Altitude Members will receive an additional 10% in Moosejaw Rewards if they have K2 or Everest status. Additionally, customers who buy used equipment get 2.5 percent of their money back in Moosejaw Rewards.

Mr. Comerford added that they want their clients to get the full benefits of engaging in the circular economy. Naturally, as time goes on, they gain from bringing in new clients and from sellers coming back to use their Moosejaw Reward Dollars.

In addition to the current Moosejaw gear rental service and The Moosejaw Outerwear Collection, the ReTrail program promotes sustainability. The continental US is covered by the gear rental program, which gives outdoor enthusiasts who live far from the store access to renting equipment. For the majority of rentals, shipping both ways is free. Customers might feel good about the program since it encourages sharing and reusing equipment, which reduces the overproduction of that item.

Each rental also gets 10% back in Moosejaw Reward Dollars, which can be used immediately to pay rental fees or purchase equipment and clothing for their next excursion in an effort to reward customers for good behavior and keep them coming back for more.

The Moosejaw Outerwear Collection is mindfully manufactured with affordable pricing and inclusive sizing for men and women, providing mindfully designed performance outerwear to greater audiences. The men’s and women’s range uses Moosejaw’s 30-year expertise in outerwear and 100% recycled polyester fabric shells to provide more warmth and performance for less. Certain items in the Moosejaw Outerwear Collection have sustainability features, such as the fact that all of the collection’s down filling is Responsible Down Standard (RDS) certified, all of the collection’s synthetic insulation is made of 100% recycled polyester, and seven of the collection’s twelve styles have linings made of the same material.
