Matouk, the heritage American luxury linen brand, is pleased to announce the latest step in its ongoing commitment to sustainability, planetary health, and safe working conditions for employees.
The addition of the STeP by OEKO-TEX® certification for environmentally friendly and socially conscious textile production signifies that Matouk's facilities in Fall River, Massachusetts, met all requirements for excellence in environmental performance and management, chemical management, quality management, workplace health and safety, and general social responsibility.
The fact that Matouk is now one of only three STeP-certified textile manufacturing facilities in the United States, after two years of meticulous work and dedication from the company's artisans, leadership, and operations teams to complete the STeP assessment, highlights the high caliber of the certification and the success of the mission.
Milt Goncalves, VP of Operations at Matouk, said that the STeP by OEKO-TEX® certification procedure indicates that Matouk's Fall River facilities are producing goods in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. They now have a clear route to establishing top-notch production procedures that will guarantee they meet and surpass the expectations of their client's thanks to the thorough research and rigorous examination of Matouk's operations.
The STeP by OEKO-TEX® accreditation is the most recent testament to Matouk's unwavering commitment to producing goods ethically and generously for the benefit of customers and the environment. In addition to pushing its manufacturing partners to get STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certification, Matouk is also seeking to certify its finished goods.
While obtaining STeP certification ensures a sustainable production method and product, meeting the standards also encourages efficiency within the business and advances Matouk's position as a pioneer for quality and social responsibility within the home sector.
CEO George Matouk Jr. said that while they're tremendously happy to earn the STeP accreditation from OEKO-TEX, they are merely at the beginning of a lifelong commitment to sustainability and socially responsible business practices. He hopes that every business will make a commitment to taking specific steps that will leave the world in a better state than when they found it, in their own unique way and in accordance with the resources they have available.
