Marchi & Fildi, a company based in Biella, Piedmont, Italy, manufacturer of natural, artificial and synthetic fibre for the textile industry to present its Ecotec smart cotton, the first Innovations collection for the next A/W 2017-18, created by its dedicated international team at the Filo exhibition for fibres and yarns to be held in Milan, Italy this week.
Ecotec by Marchi & Fildi is made in Italy from a traceable and certified manufacturing process that turns 100% pre-dyed cotton textile clippings into colourful Ecotec yarns. Now, a smarter yarn is available in a fashion-savvy colour range for customers to choose from, the company reports.
Thanks to the process, the inevitable, left over inventories generated during the production of clothing are gathered and transformed into Ecotec yarns, naturally reducing waste and of course minimizing the use of raw resources, while at the same time maintaining the highest quality and efficiency standards.
According to the manufacturer, through this process the company saves in terms of water, CO2 and energy, as attested by the LCA study conducted by ICEA. According to the results, there are improvements up to 56.3% for greenhouse gases, up to 56,6% in energy consumption and up to 77.9% in terms of water usage, when using the company’s exclusive manufacturing process.
Ecotec, a new generation of cotton yarns, is said to be a refined, high performance and versatile yarn that can be used creatively in the production of new fashion fabric collections for knitwear, circular knits, wovens, jersey and hosiery, interior design applications, and home textiles in both the retail and contract sectors.
Ecotec is available as a stock service in a wide range of bright colours. There is also the possibility to supply “customized†colours and yarns in partnership projects thanks to the Marchi & Fildi R&D centre.
The benefits of the new yarn are ensured by its adherence to the main certifications that drive the market. Ecotec certifications include Oeko-Tex 100, GRS (Global Recycled Standard), Certified Quality System Company Iso, 9000:2008 ( Marchi & Fildi ), and TF (Traceability & Fashion).
Ecotec by Marchi & Fildi was officially debuted at Première Vision in Paris last February, featured in the Yarns section.
