Maragheh carpet exhibition to open this July

The 15th Maragheh Carpet Exhibition a handmade rugs and carpets fair is set to open this summer in the ancient city that is famous for its silk carpets. The exhibition has been organized to appreciate the exquisite art of Persian rugs and help promote the regional carpet industry.

The exhibition seeks to create an environment where producers of rugs and customers or end users directly meet each other.

Due to quality materials used in production, as well as the meticulous work that goes into its making, Maragheh rugs are known for their exquisiteness and elegance.

Maragheh in East Azarbaijan Province is the second major Iranian city in production of silk rugs and carpets and also the second top job-creating sector after agricultural crops after the city of Qom.

They are the main focus of the upcoming carpet exhibition, according to asrenamayeshgah.com, a local website on expos.

The expo will be held on July 6 and run for a week at Sahand Permanent Fairground located on Derakhshi Highway this summer.
