Malaysian Apparel group Prolexus to set up new knitted fabric plant

Prolexus Group has grown to be the forerunner in Malaysia’s apparel industries, making its mark across the world plans to build a new knitted fabric plant as it looks to become increasingly vertically integrated.

The circular knitting mill with an investment of US$ 10 million which will be located in Johor, about 60km from the group’s current main factory in Batu Pahat, will have an annual production capacity of around 15 million yarns of fabric.

The management anticipates the construction of the new factory to commence in 2016 and is projected to be completed and fully commissioned by 2017, with an initial production capacity of about 4.5 million pieces annually.

The new knitting mill will also allow Prolexus expand its garment production and reduce the amount it has to buy from external suppliers.
The production of its own knitted fabrics would allow better control over the supply chain of its garment production and position the group to conform to the yarn forward rule of origin under the TPPA.

Construction will be funded with a new share issue with the company also looking to set up a new garment manufacturing plant in Vietnam.

According to Prolexus, the Vietnam plant will be located in Tien Giang province in Vietnam, and is part of its strategy to capitalize on the various benefits expected under the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA).

Prolexus Group has over the years established itself as one of the reputable garments manufacturer for the internationally renowned brands. It has 3 manufacturing plants located in Malaysia and China to serve customer requirement while the retailing business has its own brands under Be Elementz and Bixiz Kids.
