Low & Bonar, global leader in performance material in order to keep up with the increased demand from customers in America and Europe is planning to go for capacity expansion at its recently opened €32 million production facility in Changzhou, China.
The company announced a 60 million sqm capacity expansion at its plant, which opened just six months ago, took two years to develop and currently supplies applications for the flooring, building, and automotive markets (both regional and domestic) in Asia, as well as for air and water filtration.
Low & Bonar is most recognized for its Colback brand, a nonwoven premium brand fabric which is produced using a proprietary, two-step manufacturing process involving the spinning of bi-component yarns and a special laydown and bonding technique to form the finished fabric.
Colback, manufactured on-site at the Changzhou plant, is used in the likes of modular carpet floorings, car carpets and dust mats, and various filtration and decorative applications. Other uses include applications ranging from roofing reinforcement for bitumen, breathable roof membranes, and as a protective layer for water proofing membranes in garments.
In the filtration and separation markets, meanwhile, the Colback fabric functions as a pre-filter, support, drainage or protection layer in multiple fields such as for automotive cabin air and industrial air filtration, as well as for several liquid filtration applications.
Gareth Kaminski-Cook, the company’s global business director for interiors and transportation, said that this additional 60 million sqm of capacity, which will come on stream at the end of 2017, is needed to ensure they can meet their customers’ evolving demand over the coming years. They are committed to being the premium quality partner to the markets and customers they serve.
