Levi’s plans to become net-zero by 2050 in new sustainability report

Denim brand, Levi’s, in its recently released 2021 Sustainability Report, denim manufacturer Levi’s has disclosed a plethora of new sustainability objectives for the coming years.

Along with a list of the company’s most recent sustainability-related accomplishments over the past year, Levi’s also announced the setting of 16 “people- and planet-first goals” that it hopes would demonstrate its dedication to making the world a better place.

One of its most significant objectives is to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2025, a goal it intends to submit for SBTi approval in 2023.

Similar to this, the corporation wants to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its supply chain by 40% by 2025 and from all company-operated facilities by 90% by that same year.

In the end, it has committed to using only renewable energy in all of its facilities by 2025.

With the aim of being circular-ready by 2026, according to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Make Fashion Circular Framework, Levi’s indicated in its “Consumption” sector that it aims to either increase or establish resale and upcycling efforts.

The removal of single-use plastic from consumer-facing packaging, a zero-waste-to-landfill approach, and certified screening chemistry at its fabric mills are further objectives.
