American denim brand, Levi's has collaborated with The Woolmark Company, to launch its sustainable boot silhouette, the Torsten Quilted, focusing on performance and a lower environmental impact.
The heritage label used Australian Merino wool for the inner lining of their latest boot, which is 100% natural, renewable, biodegradable, and recyclable. The Woolmark-certified shoe's inner lining is designed to retain structure and shape while utilizing the inherent advantages of the fiber, such as breathability, moisture management and odor resistance.
John Roberts, CEO of Australian Wool Innovation (parent company of The Woolmark Company), said that the inclusion of Merino wool in Levi's boot not only highlights the versatility of the original performance fiber but also shines a spotlight on the sustainable nature of the fiber, pursuing the company's mission to inform and promote wool as the original eco and recyclable fiber. Merino wool is becoming more popular among younger generations, who value not only performance but also long-lasting, environmentally responsible materials.
The casual boot has a utilitarian design, with an upper made of leather approved by the Leather Working Group and an eco-cordura liner made from reused waste resources. Woolmark certified wool felt is used for the inner lining, while recycled materials are used for the boot lacing and sole.
Lee Anderson, Levi's Senior Global Merchandiser, said that they're thrilled to be collaborating with The Woolmark Company to use Merino Wool, one of nature's most practical fabrics. Both high-performance and long-lasting, they're the ideal combo for keeping you weather-ready this winter.
