Lectra is supporting the advancement of players in the fashion, automotive, and furniture industries towards a more valuable and sustainable Industry 4.0 by offering them the technological solutions to accelerate. The VectorFashion iX2 and VectorFashion Q2 models of intelligent, connected low-ply equipment for the fashion industry have been released by the group. They are particularly well-suited for ensuring a smooth and quick transition from low-volume production to high-volume orders while preserving high-quality cutting. Created with an eco-design approach, environmental and social impact has been significantly improved.
The capsule collection and the constant renewal of products is the latest trend in fashion. Hence, smaller volumes of the same design are required by the manufacturers to produce. The number of orders that need processing and materials to cut is also increasing. VectorFashion iX2 and VectorFashion Q2 allow manufacturers to cut variable volumes in an agile manner, in all types of materials.
Maximilien Abadie, chief product officer at Lectra explains,“As economies of scale are increasingly difficult to achieve, fashion manufacturers need to gain flexibility while controlling the costs associated with the production of the orders they receive. With optimized running costs and enhanced performance, the new generation of VectorFashion iX2 and VectorFashion Q2 cutting solutions offers them a better return on investment, and helps them increase their margins while also reducing their environmental footprint. As corporate social responsibility is a major priority for Lectra, we have reinforced the integration of eco-design principles in the development of this new range. This enables our customers to meet the fashion industry’s two major challenges: reducing energy and material consumption.”
Fashion players likewise have progressively elevated requirements with respect to the ecological impression of their business. Lectra addresses their issues by applying eco-design standards. The VectorFashion iX2 and VectorFashion Q2 are more energy efficient because they use 30 to 40 percent less energy than their predecessors, which were already known for their energy performance. They are smaller in size and weigh 200 kg less. As a result, the equipment's transportation and the resources used to make and maintain it have a much smaller impact on the environment.
