Kraig Biocraft delivers first spidersilk samples to Spydasilk Enterprises

Spydasilk Enterprises (“Spydasilk”) has received the first fabric samples from Kraig Biocraft Laboratories, Inc., a biotechnology business focusing on the research and commercialization of spider silk. These fabric blends will be the foundation for the Company’s first recombinant spider silk fashion line.

Spydasilk was founded in Singapore by Kraig Labs and Kings Group to create, market, and sell spider silk-based garments in the ASEAN region.

The principal designer of the Kings Group requested that these first sample fabrics merge traditional silk with cotton to create a composite, blended material. The Company plans to begin weaving several thousand yards of completed fabric integrating its recombinant spider silk when these prototype fabrics have been examined and authorized.

The distribution of these fabric samples is a crucial step forward for Spydasilk and the reopening of Vietnam’s economy. The textile factory with which Kraig Labs collaborated to reel and weave its unique silk has reopened after being closed due to COVID-19.

Jon Rice, Kraig Labs’ COO, said that delivering the first composite materials to Spydasilk is a significant step forward for the company. This initial shipment gets them one step closer to launching Spydasilk’s first apparel line and realising their ambition of large-scale commercialization of ecologically friendly and cost-effective spider silk.
