Kika Simonsen combines fashion, art and sustainability for her label

A Brazilian designer Kika Simonsen in 2015 launched her label which stands out for culture and fashion. The label demonstrates clothing made from recycled textiles with new styles and design ideas for a contemporary woman. The silhouettes are very comfortable, chic and artful made using linen blends, recycled cotton, velvets as well as silk.

Her painted prints and pattern brushstrokes are kind of a signature for her designs showing the exclusivity of the work. She is bringing a theme of wearable art and encouraging slow fashion simultaneously. She uses her Brazilian heritage and culture with the blend of traditional patterns and flattering, feminine drapery used in these distinctive, colorful designs.

For her new collection, she has taken inspiration from ‘Akai ito’, a Japanese term for a red thread of faith which is invisible to the naked eye; spiritually means the connection of men and women for eternity. The overall aesthetic of the collection is very vibrant and playful, kind of bringing together Japanese shapes and South American flair. These are handmade pieces in Brazil, using eco-optimized methods such as dyeing processes that consume less water. The oriental details and painterly prints in voluminous shapes of the collection are quite a thing to behold which perfectly depicts Simonsen’s aesthetics.
