Kemin Industries acquires Garmon Chemicals’ textile auxiliaries business

Kemin Industries to diversify into the textile sector has acquired Garmon Chemicals, supplier of textile chemicals and auxiliaries. Garmon claims to have been the first textile chemical producer to be Greenscreen certified and has made its name predominantly in the denim treatment sector through the development of, amongst others, a safer system of denim bleaching which was launched in 2015.

It is claimed that the agreement will enable Garmon to expand its research and development operations, while also improving the company’s commercial presence. The deal sees Garmon and sister company, The Italian Job, begin a process of integration into the Kemin organisation.

Dr. Chris Nelson, president and CEO of Kemin Industries said that Kemin first became interested in entering the textile auxiliaries industry based on the adjacent technologies the industry has in common with existing Kemin research and products.

Maurizio Cappellini, Garmon’s president, said that the new arrangement will see both companies utilise each other’s portfolios but maintain separate entities. As such, the headquarters of Garmon will remain in San Marino.

For over 30 years, Garmon Chemicals has been an R&D and marketing platform for fashion innovation and a reference for product quality and responsible practices.

Garmon are a customer-centric R&D powerhouse geared towards innovation, with the goal of guiding change in the garment industry.
