Kelheim Fibres releases sustainability report

Kelheim Fibres, a manufacturer of viscose speciality fibers, has released its first Sustainability Report.

Timo Thunitgut, Sustainability Manager, said that he is very pleased to have attained this milestone. Transparency is the foundation of credibility and confidence. Their Sustainability Report, which is based on the UN Global Compact, adheres to these principles and exposes their efforts in a completely transparent manner. It demonstrates how they, as a firm, live up to their obligation to people and the environment; it displays their biodegradable fibers’ role in combating one of the most pressing global issues of our day – the growing waste problem produced by disposable plastic items.

Since 2020, the Bavarians have been issuing an annual environmental statement as part of their EMAS certification, in which all relevant environmental data is available to the public. The Sustainability Report, which will be released yearly, goes even further in this regard, covering not only the company’s environmental performance but also its whole Corporate Social Responsibility.

Following this approach, the fiber specialists have devised a new organizational structure that places even more emphasis on CSR: in the future, all sustainability themes will be centrally integrated in the new CSR department (previously HSE, Health, Safety & Environment), which will be led by Wolfgang Ott.

Wolfgang Ott, said that responsible corporate behavior is and will continue to be a key competitive differentiation. Their CSR performance, which has been strongly embedded in their mindset for years, will gain even more exposure and impact by consolidating all CSR aspects in one department.
