Germany-based specialty viscose fiber manufacturer, Kelheim Fibres, received gold in EcoVadis' CSR rating, placing it among the top 3% of all companies assessed. The grade was substantially above average in the areas of the environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement, with the environment receiving absolute top marks.
Craig Barker, CEO of Kelheim Fibres, said that they manufacture plant-based specialty fibers that promote healthy lives while helping to conserve the environment for future generations. How seriously they take their own ambitions is measured by environmentally friendly production and their overall environmental, social, and ethical performance.
Barker added that they don't want to rest on their gold medal: as usual, when they confront an evaluation like EcoVadis, they welcome any suggestions for improvement - continuous improvement is a key component of their long-term strategy.
Kelheim Fibres is also the first viscose fiber company in the world to be certified by the EMAS environmental management system and was scored highly in the 'Hot Button Report' for sustainable wood and pulp procurement by the Canadian NGO Canopy.
EcoVadis has grown to become the world's largest and most trusted provider of corporate sustainability ratings, with over 75,000 certified enterprises worldwide since its inception in 2007.
