North Carolina-based Keel Labs has introduced the Kelsun T-Shirt, a groundbreaking creation developed in collaboration with environmental advocate Aditi Mayer. This garment, made from Kelsun fiber – Keel Labs' flagship product derived from seaweed – marks a significant leap in sustainable textile alternatives. It showcases Kelsun's versatility as a plug-and-play substitute for traditional fibers in the fashion industry.

Crafted using a 70% Kelsun, 30% Cotton blended yarn, the Kelsun T-Shirt demonstrates the seaweed-based material's adaptability in a jersey knit, a fundamental knit construction. The T-Shirt also features a screen print using Living Ink’s Algae Ink, displaying Keel Labs’ signature Spun K on the pocket.

Climate activist Aditi Mayer, known for her work in sustainable fashion, played a crucial role in bringing the Kelsun T-Shirt to life. Mayer highlights the urgency for the fashion industry to reconsider its fiber choices, emphasizing Kelsun's potential to address environmental concerns associated with conventional materials.
