Kathmandu unveils carbon capture technology activewear

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2025-03-14 17:24:22 – Nepal

Kathmandu has taken a bold step in sustainable fashion with the launch of its Seeker range, an innovative activewear collection that merges eco-friendly advancements with functional design. Unlike typical recycled polyester apparel, Seeker incorporates fabrics made using carbon capture technology, setting a new standard for sustainability.

This groundbreaking process prevents industrial carbon emissions, such as those from steel mills, from entering the atmosphere. Through an advanced gas fermentation method, the captured carbon is converted into ethanol, which is then used to create polyester yarn.

By adopting this approach, Kathmandu significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions while offering a sustainable alternative to traditional polyester production. Additionally, the Seeker collection integrates materials derived from recycled plastic waste, including discarded car tyres, a method previously seen in the brand’s Epiq SE collection.

Beyond its environmental benefits, the Seeker range is designed for versatility. Whether for high-intensity workouts or everyday activities, these lightweight, breathable, and quick-drying garments provide comfort without compromising durability.
