Johnson to keep the automotive seats clean and hygience as the seats are used throughout a vechicle’s lifetime has developed a fresh per4mance coating which will help keep textiles liquid-repellent, stain-resistant, antistatic and antimicrobial.

To prevent damage caused by spilled coffee, ketchup, a child's dirty hands or microbes, for example, they have developed FreshPer4mance, said Peter Heift, group vice president and general manager trim at Johnson Controls Automotive Seating.

According to Johnson Controls, the new coating allows the dirt to be removed with one easy wipe, without leaving marks, making it easier to keep seats clean, hygienic and odour free. The coating can be applied to all cover fabrics on both sides to provide optimum, long-lasting protection.

A further benefit associated with the coating is that car manufacturers can expand their range of trim fabrics to include lighter colours, thus offering more distinctive and customized vehicle options.

As for private vehicles the coating will help maintain cleanliness and increase its value. But it is developed more to targets seat covers in commercial vehicles and vehicles with constantly changing drivers, such as rental cars and pool vehicles.
