Jason Momoa reveals sustainable vegan sneakers made from algae

Many celebrities are choosing sustainable fashion practices and are promoting an environmentally conscious lifestyle as environmental concerns are rising. Following this trend, Jason Momoa, an American actor has also released 2 sustainable vegan sneakers made from algae. The limited-edition shoes are a part of his On The Roam collection and are released in collaboration with a brand called So iLL, along with the assistance of BLOOM.

BLOOM is an initiative that creates sustainable materials using algae blooms. The surplus growth of algae bloom or algae in water bodies is harmful to aquatic ecosystems as it lowers oxygen levels in the water and blocks sunlight.

Instead of the conventional plastic foam, the foam of insoles in sustainable sneakers is made using algae. The 2 shoes are named Unity Purple and Yaya Lavender Roamers are manufactured using organic cotton and cork which are completely biodegradable. To hasten the decomposition process in landfills, the outer rubber soles have also been modified.

The design of the shoes is inspired by Momoa’s tattoos. The actor posted a picture of him holding the shoes on Instagram. The statement said that it’s a new way to Rome. As part of the So iLL x On The Roam Collection, they are introducing 2 new limited edition models by Jason Momoa. The main features of Unity Purple and Yaya Lavender Roamersare organic cotton upper, @bloomfoam algae insoles with a top layer of cork, and biodegradable outsoles. They are available for preorder now.

The Aquaman star has also spoken at the United Nations General Assembly and has been vocal about environmental degradation and the climate crisis in the past. To spread awareness about the excess of single-use plastics polluting the world’s oceans, he launched a line of canned water called Mananalu made from recycled aluminum in 2019.
