J.Crew partners with ThredUp

J. Crew has launched a new program called “J. Crew Always” in an effort to protect the environment and help customers save some money.

A “360-resale” program powered by ThredUp’s Resale-as-a-Service and a program selling J. Crew vintage men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing in selected stores are both included in the project.

Customers may purchase “gently worn” J. Crew women’s and children’s clothing online at jcrew.thredup.com, resale it, and get credit toward future purchases at J. Crew thanks to the company’s collaboration with ThredUp. The amount of clothing that is sent in and the caliber of the items will determine the credits. Customers fill shippable boxes or bags with women’s and children’s clothing from any brand in their wardrobe, not just J. Crew. They then print a pre-paid shipping label at jcrew.thredup.com.

For products sold in J. Crew stores, online, and on ThredUp, customers receive J. Crew shopping credit. The goal is to prevent waste from going to landfills and promote circular wardrobes.

Women’s vintage clothing from J. Crew is offered at the Fifth Avenue by 17th Street J. Crew location in Manhattan. The 1990s cotton sweater vest, the 1980s cropped jean jacket, and the 1990s denim skirt are among the popular looks. The men’s concept store at 315 Bowery in Lower Manhattan, which launched in September, offers a selection of vintage-inspired menswear.

A garment’s lifespan is increased by an average of 2.2 years by returning it to the circular economy by passing it down, giving it away, or selling it, claims J. Crew. According to J. Crew, “when individuals buy used apparel, the demand for new clothing manufacture declines, which reduces carbon, waste, and water footprints by an average of 25%.

James Reinhart created the publicly traded internet marketplace ThredUp in 2009. It enables customers to purchase and sell women’s and children’s clothing, shoes, and accessories that are either new or barely worn. ThredUp introduced its Resale-as-a-Service in 2018, enabling companies like J. Crew to connect to its resale engine and provide clients thrifty experiences.

The J. Crew Always campaign does not apply to the J. Crew items that are already for sale on ThredUp. These are J. Crew products donated by ThredUp users. The J. Crew Always products will remain on the website.
