ITMA 2015 to introduce recycled fibres and yarns sub-chapter this time

At ITMA 2015, recycled fibres and yarns sub-chapter to be introduced driven by the emergent commitment across the global textile and clothing sector to invest in more and more sustainable and environmentally friendly production methods. The new chapter is also indicative of the theme chosen for the 2015 edition, which is ‘Master the Art of Sustainable Innovation’.

Among the new initiatives that will be organised in line with the theme are conferences and workshops on sustainable innovations. The exhibition will also have a bigger focus on the waste management and recycling sector. In addition, for the research and education (R&E) sector, more emphasis will be placed on innovations that promote sustainability.

Martin Kagi, CEO, Buhler, welcoming the introduction of recycled fibres and yarns sub-chapter said that ITMA 2015 would look forward to showcasing their innovations that promote sustainability at the show emphasizing the importance of the drive towards sustainability in the entire textile and garment supply chain. At Buhler, they are committed to producing high quality yarns through the highest environmental standards across their production process.

Mr Stephen R Combes, President of CEMATEX, which owns the show, said that the drive towards sustainability is increasingly integrated with enlightened business practices. The keyword here is ‘sustainability’, and they hope industry members will join them in this responsible mission to promote more eco-friendly solutions and practices for the entire textile and garment value chain.

Hosting ITMA for the fifth time, the city Milan continues to draw fashion aficionados, supermodels and international media twice yearly for its spring and autumn fairs.
