Italy-based, Peuterey has joined the Bluesign system, pledging to achieve the most stringent sustainability standards in terms of resource efficiency, environmental impact, workplace health and safety, and consumer protection. The Bluesign Input Stream Management system eliminates the usage and release of dangerous chemicals throughout the manufacturing process.
The Bluesign system is the most stringent standard for the textile industry, with its comprehensive approach, and adopting it means satisfying these standards without sacrificing product functionality, quality, or design. By producing functional, inclusive, and sustainable clothes that will last throughout time, the company hopes to contribute to a more egalitarian, fair, and successful society.
Bluesign's head of marketing and communication, Kutay Saritosun, said that they’re ecstatic to announce that leading Italian brand Peuterey has chosen to join the Bluesign System, demonstrating their strong commitment to responsible resource usage, production, and chemistry. They look forward to assisting Peuterey on its quest for excellence in a sustainable fashion.
Francesca Lusini, president of Peuterey Group, said that environmental stewardship and long-term viability are foundational parts of their company’s genetic heritage. This is why they strive to improve their environmental effect every day. They invest in research and innovation to achieve tangible outcomes that they can incorporate into our manufacturing processes: they reduce energy and material waste by using alternative products, certified raw materials, and cutting-edge technologies. They choose creative and environmentally friendly yarns, fibers, fabrics, and padding without sacrificing thermal performance, water resistance, or durability.
In the spirit of a #betterfuture, Peuterey also pledges to put an end to reckless natural resource consumption by minimizing waste and adhering to the principles of the circular economy. According to a press release from Peuterey, the revolutionary Peuterey Recycle project is a limited edition that creatively rethinks the recovery of vintage materials, bringing scraps, accessories, padding, and fabrics back to life — 0 percent waste, 100% percent innovation.
Today, the Peuterey Group uses feathers certified to the Responsible Down Standard (RDS) and Down Pass standards for its collections, as well as Primaloft, a high-performance technological material made from 100% recycled synthetic fibers and used as an alternative to feathers for padding; GOTS certified organic fabrics; Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certified recycled raw materials, and environmentally friendly technical products such as fabrics made waterproof with urethane. In high-quality collections, top performance, environmental sustainability, and design are therefore ideally blended.
