Turkish denim mill, ISKO, is investing in Italian weaving machines manufacturer Itema. ISKO is already on its road to a more sustainable denim future by selecting Itema’s newest rapier machine, a revolutionary innovation boosted by the iSAVER® technology. The rapier machine guarantees maximum efficiency by lowering waste generation and energy consumption while optimizing the fabrics’ hand-feel, aesthetic, and performance.
This decision is a critical step forward in ISKO’s journey toward true Responsible Innovation™. It is part of the company’s other critical investments aimed at further reducing its environmental impact, including R-TWOTM50+ – a new denim generation made with a minimum of 50% pre-and post-consumer recycled blend – and the Green Machine – a pioneering technology providing a 100% post-consumer recycling solution that fully separates and recycles cotton and polyester blends at scale.
Following a thorough evaluation, a selection was made where ISKO focuses on the development of technical solutions that enable higher resource savings and more sustainable manufacturing processes, while always keeping worker safety in mind.
As a consequence, ISKO’s Headquarters strengthens the company’s position as the mill with the world’s largest denim capacity. The new rapier machines are strengthened with iSAVER® technology, a ground-breaking mechatronic innovation that removes waste selvedge on the left side of the fabric, allowing for energy and raw material savings while decreasing cotton waste in half. ISKO’s unique textiles, in a variety of structures and fiber mixes, may now be created utilizing these sophisticated weaving processes, with a specific emphasis on the R-TWOTM technology’s sustainable credentials.
Fatih Konukoğlu, ISKO CEO, said that they recognized a significant opportunity to push their sustainable strategy even further in these technologies, and in Itema the right partner with which to share a committed, long-term approach. Both of their firms are leaders in their respective domains of fabric innovation and weaving technique, and their partnership establishes a common ground of excellence that will undoubtedly benefit the whole denim industry.
