Isbjörn commits to become a net-zero company by 2045

Premium and sustainable outdoor kidswear brand, Isbjörn of Sweden, has outlined a new sustainability roadmap as it aims to go completely microplastic-free and become a fully circular brand by 2033, with a goal to become net-zero by 2045.

Isbjörn, the first outdoor children’s brand to join the bluesign system, recognizes that the fashion industry is a major contributor to rising greenhouse gas emissions and is committed to doing more to minimize CO2 emissions.

Selma Jakobsson, production and sustainability manager at Isbjörn, said that they will publish yearly measurement reports and be entirely transparent as they proceed in their journey. They aim to reduce carbon emissions by at least 4.2 percent per year to accomplish their 2033 goal.

Isbjörn’s plan to become net-zero involves making all of its clothing 100 percent recyclable or biodegradable by 2030. Customers will be able to return worn items for resale or recycling, and the company intends to totally phase out the use of virgin microplastics by 2026.

Jakobsson added that they need to be totally circular to reach their reduction goals, using sustainable materials to manufacture long-lasting and durable products, working with renewable energy, and continuing to promote FSC-certified responsible and sustainable forestry. Sustainability work has always been in Isbjörn’s DNA, and they can deliver a good influence for future generations of outdoor lovers with their new roadmap.
