Iranian products exhibition held in Oman to boost trade relations between the two countries

Oman Expo in collaborating with the Iranian Embassy in the Sultanate has organized a five day Iranian products exhibition for trade exchange between the Sultanate and Iran and to provide SMEs owners with opportunities to expand their projects and strike new commercial deals. The exhibition is considered one of the specialized exhibitions.

The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Ali bin Masud al- Sunaidi, Minister of Commerce and Industry in the presence of Eng. Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, Iranian Minister of Industry and Trade with the participation of more than 100 Iranian companies.

The exhibition is the biggest for Iranian companies in the Sultanate. The exhibition will also facilitate companies looking forward to investment opportunities in the Sultanate.

There are 259 Omani -Iranian companies operating in various sectors. The export and import activity between the two countries has been very good in 2012 and 2013 and hopefully will remain so in the future.

The value of reciprocal trade, estimated at RO 340 million or $1 billion, is still very humble considering the Iranian big market and its huge potentials, as well as the Sultanate's capabilities and projects.

The exhibition will provide an ideal opportunity for the Omani companies to meet with their Iranian counterparts to explore the export potentials to Iran and utilizing the Sultanate as a hub for the re-exporting of some Iranian products to the Gulf region and Africa.

The Iranian Minister said that the Iranian traders are enthusiastic to enhancing cooperation in technical and technological fields. He hoped that the Omni businessmen would review the experiences of the Iranian companies to enhance industrial and technical cooperation between the two countries.

The exhibition includes textile, leather products, machinery, Persian carpets, agricultural products, interior design, agricultural machinery, mineral and mining tools, medical equipment and accessories foodstuff products, oil and gas derivatives, petrochemical products, building materials, furniture, auto spare parts, cleaning materials and home appliances.

The exhibition is also an ideal opportunity for the exhibitors to meet with Omani businessmen and strike deals with them, especially many Iranian brands are looking for agents in the Sultanate.

The exhibition opened at Oman International Exhibition Centre yesterday. Both the Sultanate and Iran have deep-rooted cultural and historic relations. The exhibition would enhance trade relations between the two friendly countries.
