International textiles, weaving expo held in Erode generates Rs.200cr business

A three day International Textiles, Weaving Machinery and Accessories expo held in Erode where more than 90 companies including from U.S.A., Italy and Germany and India displayed their products that provided insights into moving up the value chain has managed to generate business of over Rs 200 crore, said M A Rayappan, the Chairman of Hi-Tech International Trade Fair Private Ltd today.

The expo was visited by large number of students and entrepreneurs. The expo proved to be a great opportunity for growth of the textile sector.

The organizers said that the next expo would feature machinery of higher technologies, factoring in the desire of the younger generation of entrepreneurs to move up the value chain. The Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation and nationalized banks had receive several enquiries for business modernization during the Expo. District Collector S Prabakar assured support to the organizers to strengthen the textile sector.

The industry representatives who addressed the seminars at the expo said the future of local dyeing and printing industries could be safeguarded by setting up Common Effluent Treatment Plants. Woven gada fabric was transported all the way to Gujarat for dyeing and brought back as the dyeing units are not able to function due to strict laws present in the state.

The Tamil Nadu government need to address the problems of pollution soon.
