At this week's IDEA nonwovens show in Miami (March 29-April 1), Indorama Ventures' Hygiene Group is launching Deja carbon-neutral polypropylene (PP) fiber, as well as reporting significant breakthroughs with its Biotransformative PP fibers.

Deja carbon-neutral PP fibers were created in response to client requests for solutions that would help them reach their sustainability goals. IVL subsidiary FiberVisions in Covington, Georgia, has completed a fully accredited Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) on its processes and materials and is now offering this select PP staple fiber range, which balances greenhouse gas emissions with verified carbon offset projects, in collaboration with Strive, a global climate solutions provider.

Meanwhile, Biotransformation is a shelf-stable, recyclable, and time-set biodegradable PP fiber that permits fibers and nonwovens to be recycled. If released into the environment, it is scientifically intended to biodegrade and biotransform in natural settings, leaving no toxins or microplastics behind.

IVL Hygiene's six brands – Auriga, Avgol, FiberVisions, Indorama Asia, Trevira, and Wellman International – are all present at the event, showcasing a wide spectrum of sustainable polymers, fibers, and nonwovens.

Wellman's plant in Mullagh, Ireland, has recently installed technology that allows PET to be recycled without sacrificing quality, and sister companies Auriga, IVL Asia, and Trevira also have a strong recovered PET (rPET) fiber portfolio for the hygiene business.

Trevira will highlight its newly introduced bicomponent fibers based on PLA and PBS (polybutylene succinate), which are recyclable and 100% biodegradable under industrial conditions.
