Indonesian Industry Ministry, Saleh Husin is encouraging its textile industries order to develop or diversify products for fashion needs. In a press release on Saturday, Industry Minister said that diversification is a strategic move because of the current development of the market demand for raw material for fashion products is relatively high.
Unfortunately, he added that most of the raw materials are imported.
Also the development of the textile industry and textile products (TPT) in the last two years have been stagnant, both in domestic and international markets and this is the result of a slowing world economy.
It said that the step for diversification is considered important in line with the development fashion industries and design creations by designers.
The textile and garment industry of Indonesia is an important contributor to Indonesia’s economy, serving as a large source for jobs and export earnings. The Indonesian government is hopeful that Indonesia's export share in the world market will increase from 1.8 percent currently to 4 or 5 percent in the next 10 years.
