IKEA, a Swedish furniture company, and MUD Jeans, a Dutch denim brand, collaborate to give recycled denim a new life by using it to create KLIPPAN sofa covers, with the expectation that goods and fabrics will last even longer. The new KLIPPAN sofa cover is a special edition that will only be available in 9 European markets which include the Netherlands, Ireland, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Germany, the UK, and Italy.

Deployment Leader at New Business and Innovation Deployment, IKEA of Sweden, Piotr Jakubiak said that the KLIPPAN sofa is a well-known IKEA product. They will help consumers refresh their sofas and reuse fabrics by selling new sofa covers constructed from recycled materials. They're excited to collaborate with MUD Jeans on the KLIPPAN sofa cover, which is made from recycled denim. This easy step will breathe new life into faded denim and sofas.

approximately 500 million pairs of jeans are sold every year in Europe. On average, a European owns seven pairs of trousers, two of which are never worn. The majority of jeans are discarded or incinerated during use. Just about 1% of them are used as fabric for new garments.

Each new KLIPPAN sofa cover is made up of 40% post-consumer recycled denim, which is equivalent to two pairs of old jeans. Each cover made using this post-consumer denim saves 27,000 liters of water and reduces the carbon footprint by 67 percent as compared to the industry standard denim process.

Head of Circular Development, Inter IKEA Group, Malin Nordin said that IKEA aims to expand within the planet's limits. All things, they conclude, are precious and should not be wasted. They will work together to secure new sources of recycled materials and create brands using post-consumer materials like recycled denim by partnering with MUD Jeans. They are finding ways to mitigate pollution and its effect on the environment by collaborating together.
