Hyosung expands elastane line with 100% renewable resources

Hyosung has broadened its range of regen Bio-Based Elastane, replacing nearly all the raw materials previously derived from petroleum-based sources with 100% renewable resources. Recently, the company obtained an independent third-party Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for its expanded regen Bio-Based Elastane line.

Claire O’Neill, Hyosung’s Director of European Brand Marketing, expressed enthusiasm about the expanded regen Bio-Based Elastane offering, emphasizing its role in reducing reliance on fossil fuels and cutting carbon emissions. As a comprehensive provider of sustainable textile solutions, Hyosung aims to offer textile options that cater to the diverse needs of mills, brands, and consumers, achieving this goal with pride.

In 2021, Hyosung pioneered the commercial introduction of USDA and SGS-certified regen Bio-Based Elastane, incorporating 30% renewable resources. This innovation has been embraced by major global brands. According to an independent third-party LCA, manufacturing 1kg of regen Bio-Based spandex reduces its carbon footprint by 20% compared to conventional spandex production.
