Hyosung, the South Korean textile manufacturer, has announced the launch of a range of textiles that are recycled, high-performance as well as sustainable. The new fabrics have been developed alongside Lenzing, at the ongoing Performance Days Digital showcase.
Working towards ‘Reuse, Recycle, Regen’ the partnership has introduced a variety of materials highlighting characteristics such as UV protection, moisture-wicking and pill-resistant.
Mike Simko, global marketing director, Hyosung-Textiles, stated that as consumers increasingly seek out sustainability, they continue to expand their offering of eco-friendly solutions to help their customers reach their sustainable goals. Simko added that these goals could range from a focus on waste reduction to the elimination of using non-renewable resources, along with many others in between.
The performance days commenced a day ago and were held virtually due to the travel restrictions. Hyosung is using this showcase to launch its new range of Regen and Mipan branded fabrics.
The range consists of five multi-functional recycled iterations that are, Regen Askin, which offers UV protection; Regen Cotna, ensures quick drying and is pill-resistant; Regen Aerolight, which is moisture-wicking, soft-touch and light-weight; Regen Aerocool, which boasts rapid moisture-wicking and quick-drying traits; and Mipan Regen Robic, high-tenacity nylon.
Hyosung has innovated and designed these fabrics after expanding into Brazil and Turkey. The company has been trying to create a gap between itself and other businesses by competing to be the industry’s leading elastane producer.
The Home Everywhere collection features Hyosung’s three new fabric concepts in partnership with Lenzing. The collection features Lenzing’s cellulose-based fibres and Hyosung’s elastane, polyester and nylon fibres, used together in fabrics suitable for athleisure wear use.
The collaborative partners also ensure that the new innovation uses 50% less water and reduces carbon emission by 60% when compared to traditionally dyed fabrics.
