Rental platform Hurr has partnered with Depop, the London-based fashion marketplace app, to offer pre-rented clothing products through a new initiative – The Loop.
The Loop seeks to promote both the company’s goals to power the circular economy and to promote conscious fashion purchasing, by offering a selection of 100 pre-rented designer products reduced up to 80%.
Each piece in The Loop by Hurr edit has been rented and worn at least 20 times and comprises dresses, skirts, co-ords from contemporary labels such as Rixo, Keepsake, and Art Dealer, as well as coats and jackets from Stand Studio and bags from By Far.
Justine Porterie, Depop’s head of sustainability, said that they’re delighted to be the first resale platform that Hurr has worked with on the next phase of their circular journey. In order to reshape fashion consumption and make the industry more circular, both resale and rental have a role to play. Plus, reselling on Depop isn’t often the end of the tale; it’s just the beginning.
Porterie added that they believe in helping in the preservation of goods in circulation for as long as possible, preserving clothing that is currently in circulation going from person to person. They aim to be able to provide individuals the ability to dress differently every day with distinctive fashion while leaving a reduced footprint at Depop. That is the way fashion will be in the future.
Victoria Prew, Hurr’s CEO, said that they’re extremely delighted to work with Depop to create a unique line of pre-loved designer items. The Loop by Hurr helps keep garments out of landfills and gives them a second life through resale.
Prew added that with thousands of designs to select from, including some of Hurr’s most rented looks ever, the cooperation will help to extend the lifespan of each of these products and create a more sustainable future of fashion.
Depop, a peer-to-peer shopping app that was launched in 2011, was recently acquired by global marketplace giant Etsy for $1.6 billion.
