Hugo Boss expands its sustainability initiative with the launch of new collection

German luxury fashion house, Hugo Boss, has launched its Clean Up Your Act initiative as part of its autumn/winter 2021 collection, which aims to engage customers in the company’s sustainable mission.

Upcycled and recycled items make up a major component of the collection, which is supplemented with a variety of sustainable cotton essentials. Dresses, hoodies, t-shirts, outerwear, and accessories are among the many items available in the collection for both men and women.

Padded parkers and other athletic designs are created from recycled materials and sustainably sourced cotton blends, while trainers are produced from yarn derived from recycled bottles.

Its collaboration with Cotton Made in Africa is also slated to grow, with additional accessories joining the collection. Hugo Boss began working with the foundation in 2019 and has since released a number of sustainable collections, including Hugo x Liam Payne, which was released at the end of 2020. Through trade agreements aimed at improving living and working circumstances for cotton farmers in Africa, the organization hopes to improve living and working conditions.

The Clean Out Your Act program requires products to be made up of 60% sustainable, third-party certified components. Responsible items have specialized clothing tags and a particular section in the online store for easy identification.

In addition to the launch, the company is providing consumers with a Clean Up Your Act repair kit, which includes branded sewing patches to urge customers to fix rather than throw away their products.

Hugo has taken a variety of initiatives to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable manufacturing and circular supply chains, with a focus on materiality-based goals. The label has set a number of targets with its parent business, Hugo Boss Group, including using 100% sustainably produced cotton by 2025.
