House of Anita Dongre joins Canopy to protect world’s forests

House of Anita Dongre becomes the first Indian fashion house to partner with environmental non-profit Canopy’s CanopyStyle and Pack4Good initiatives, which aim to improve the fashion and packaging supply chains. The brand will benefit from Canopy’s experience in forest protection and supply chain transformation as it transitions to circular economy production.

India is well-positioned to be a pioneer in moving Next Generation Solutions from the margins of the marketplace to mainstream manufacturing, with 92 million tonnes of waste straw left over every year after the crop harvest and millions of tonnes of textile waste. In a joint news statement, the two companies stated that they want to speed up the creation of these creative solutions.

Anita Dongre, chief creative officer, said that fashion isn’t only about what’s new; it’s also about what’s good for the creator, the wearer, and the environment. Protecting the world’s forests is critical, so they’re collaborating with Canopy to help protect the world’s forests and develop supply chains that prioritize the health of our planet.

Canopy’s founder and executive director, Nicole Rycroft, said that this is the decade to solve the biodiversity and climatic challenges that we face, as well as to restructure global supply networks so that they operate within the boundaries of our natural environment.

Rycroft added that the House of Anita Dongre symbolizes the compassion and inventive spirit that business, civic society, and government leaders need to contribute at this critical juncture. They’re looking forward to collaborating with Anita and her team to develop the answers they so urgently require.
