H&M to open its doors in Sydney this October

H&M, Swedish fast fashion chain’s second Australian store will open its doors on October 16 inside the redeveloped Macquarie Centre in Sydney’s burgeoning north-western corridor. This is its first Sydney store located more than 15 kilometres from the CBD, in North Ryde.

The mass-production fashion chain, the world’s second largest retailer and known for its cheap versions of runway trends, is making a turbo-charged push into Australia.

H&M creative adviser Margareta Van Den Bosch said that Sydney’s new boutique will be replenished by new stock on a daily basis. ‘There will be new things every day.

Ms Van Den Bosch said it took almost a decade for the company to devise a plan to successfully crack and prosper within the Australian market.

H&M Sydney is expected to cover the homewares range, along with womenswear, menswear and kidswear, will all be available before Christmas.

The chain, which operates in 53 countries and is successful due to its broad age appeal and ranges, has gone to the length of creating an Australian-only collection.

H&M is the world’s largest consumer of organic cotton, according to the Textile Exchange’s most recent Organic Cotton Market report.
