H&M Group starts using paper packaging for online orders

Swedish Fast-fashion retailer H&M has announced that it would henceforth send online orders in FSC-certified paper packaging in the Netherlands.

The move is part of the company’s environmental promise to use 25% less packaging between 2018 and 2025, with single-use packaging being replaced. The paper is uncoated, making it easier to recycle, and it takes up less space in delivery, enabling many deliveries to be made at once.

To maintain product safety, plastic bags will still be utilized to wrap items inside the package. The business claims, however, that it is now working on a sustainable alternative.

Annet Feenstra, H&M Netherlands’ sustainability manager, said that fashion item are really valuable. They’ve looked for a more durable type of paper that is also sturdy enough to ensure that purchases arrive at their customers in good condition. They hope that customers will appreciate this new packaging and cherish the item they receive in it.

From the launch of bicycle couriers in 2019 to the inclusion of the new Budbee delivery option in February this year, H&M Netherlands has continued to employ sustainable delivery methods. The firm has said that it would continue to take efforts to achieve its objective of a circular business model, focusing on its present supply chain.
