H&M Foundation partners with GFA to boost circular fashion initiatives

The H&M Foundation has announced a three-year partnership with the Global Fashion Agenda (GFA) to expand the National Circular Fashion Partnership projects and provide substantial funding. This collaboration aims to enhance the influence and reach of the Global Circular Fashion Forum (GCFF).

The GFA, in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), is focused on amplifying the impact of the GCFF. With support from the H&M Foundation, efforts are underway to increase the forum’s influence and outreach.

Since its inception in 2022, the GCFF, backed by GFA and GIZ, has been instrumental in driving initiatives to boost textile waste recycling in manufacturing nations. It has facilitated the recycling of approximately 10,685 tonnes of textile waste, equivalent to 60 million T-shirts, through its National Circular Fashion Partnerships.

The GCFF program is currently active in Bangladesh and undergoing development in Vietnam and Cambodia. It is slated to expand to Turkey and Indonesia in the near future. Key partners like Circle Economy, Closed Loop Fashion, and Reverse Resources, along with local stakeholders, will play vital roles in advancing this transformative agenda.

Federica Marchionni, CEO of GFA, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with H&M Foundation, highlighting its potential to significantly broaden the organization’s impact. The collaboration aligns with GFA’s vision of fostering a net positive fashion industry.
