Harsh Vardhan Jalan, Liva Fabrics unveil sustainable collection

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2025-01-30 16:31:15 – India

Designer Harsh Vardhan Jalan has collaborated with Birla Cellulose’s Liva Fabrics to launch a couture collection named 'Prana', which embodies sustainability and artistic innovation. The womenswear collection incorporates eco-friendly materials, including repurposed waste fish scales, to promote conscious fashion.

"'Prana' is a deeply personal concept to me, as it reflects the flow of life that connects every being," said Jalan in a press release. He expressed that working with Liva Fabrics allowed him to merge cultural heritage with modern aesthetics using sustainable materials and techniques. He described the collection as a shared commitment to innovation, craftsmanship, and environmental responsibility.

The collection presents a contrast between delicate, fluid silhouettes and bold, structured designs. Layered petal and fish scale-inspired fabric cuts, ombre accents, and fringe details create movement, while intricate techniques such as crochet, traditional embroidery, and distressed yarn weaving blend heritage craftsmanship with contemporary design.

Sree Charan, Vice President of Marketing and Global Head of Brands at Aditya Birla Group’s Birla Cellulose, highlighted the synergy between sustainability and creativity in this collaboration. “At Liva, we believe in championing sustainability while delivering fabrics that inspire creativity. This collection is a testament to how sustainability can drive design excellence,” he said.
